I'm just a guy in the process of pursuing Financial Independence, a.k.a. (FI), as I started along this journey back in 2014 to figure out how to reach retirement, which later turned into finding out about FI in 2017. Like any journey, it wasn't a straight line with many mistakes and failures. I want to share what I've learned along the way as I have achieved different phases of FI and am still on the journey to reach my FI number.

I've done things like invest in real estate, make money on options, stock picking, whole life insurance, index funds, and mutual funds. I've had access to retirement plans through government (TSPs) and private employer (401ks). I've worked for myself, flipping houses; I've worked at startups and big organizations. I've done a lot career-wise, and through my sheer experiences, I've just learned a lot.

I consider myself a little privileged. I grew up never wanting food, clothes, or a house over my head. I was able to go to school every day. And compared to the majority of the world, I was rich. Most of you reading this are probably in a first-world country, and unless you are actually in poverty, meaning you don't know where your next meal is coming from, you don't have a cell phone, and you don't have a place to live, you are rich too. I bring this up because I want to be thankful for what we get and what we have. But I also know you may not feel rich. You may be living paycheck to paycheck. You are stressed and anxious. Retirement feels like a dream. For you, I share my plan in a way that hopefully helps you to take next steps.
